How do I bake a cake?
The history of cakes go back to shortly after the discovery of flour. The earliest examples of cake were found among Neolithic villages, these cakes were nothing more then what we might think of as biscuits or cookie made from crushed grains and oats. Through out history the cake has often been a symbol of wealth or religious symbolism, only used for very special occasions or consumed by the wealthy, since only the finest and most expensive ingredients were available to the cook. Today, cakes are used for holidays, and special events like Weddings and Birthdays.
In order to make a cake in Ultima Online you will need several pre-made ingredients and complete several steps to reach your ultimate goal. The cake is one of the more robust and complex items available to the Chef. Since you will require several ingredients and need an available water source handy we recommend the "Good Eats" bakery in the city of Britain.

of Sweet Dough and Dough)
First, assemble your set of raw ingredients and tools.

cooking tool)
Directions:
Double
click the sack of flour in your pack, this should produce an open sack of
flour which will be usable by the cooking menu. Next, double
click the rolling pin to bring up the cooking menu, click on ingredients
and select Dough. As the cake is a difficult confection to make, we recommending
making 4 pieces of Dough. You will find however, that after you make a few pieces
you will run out of water in your pitcher. You will need to refill your pitcher
to continue the receipe.
If you are baking lots of cakes or other Dough based foods you may want to have several full pitchers of water in your pack. An excellent water source for filling your pitcher are Water Troughs, these can be found in some NPC Bakery’s and stable areas. Water troughs are an endless supply of water, although you can use lakes, rivers or even the ocean to fill your pitcher. To fill an empty pitcher double click it and target the water source.
Now lets create the Sweet Dough! Make sure that you have the needed ingredients in your pack, Dough and honey. Double click the rolling pin and select Sweet Dough from the menu. To create the sweetened Dough will require the use of 1 unit of Dough and 1unit of Honey for each successful creation.
Creating the Cake Mix requires Flour and Sweet Dough. Double click the rolling pin and select Cake Mix from the menu. Remember that on failures you may loose some of the ingredients, be it Flour or even a Sweet Dough. If successful you will now be ready for the last step, baking the cake!
In order to bake the cake or other foods you must be near an oven. The oven can be player made or be housed in an NPC Bakery. Unfortunately the 7th Anniversary “Hearth of the Home Fire” cannot be used to bake with. Stand near the oven and double click the rolling pin and select Baking from the menu. Now the pinnacle of cake making is for the cook to make an exceptional cake. At 100 skill in cooking you have a 55% chance to create one at this level. Select cake from the menu and attempt your first try. If successful you will be rewarded with a beautiful tall cake, ready to eaten or used at your next important function..
* At this time some player made bags of flour may not allow you to mix and create ingredients. NPC purchased flour is not affected by this issue.
